Allocation

Water allocation, or Ratio Utility Billing, is the use of formulas to determine an individual unit’s water usage. It is a popular billing service for properties built prior to 2003. Many properties choose to allocate their water bill to their residents instead of installing individual submeters.

A variety of formulas have been created by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality:

                  • Actual Occupancy
                  • Ratio Occupancy
                  • Average Occupancy & Number of Rooms
                  • Combination of Actual Occupancy & Square Feet
                  • Submetered Hot/Cold, Ratio to Total

Water Works of Texas can help you determine which allocation formula is the best solution for your property. If you are implementing an allocation program for the first time, there is generally little or no cost to the property owner. Call us today to find out which method is right for you.
